PT Pindad, a member of holding company Defend ID, has prepared mass production of the Maung MV3 Garuda tactical vehicle for use by ministers in the Red and White Cabinet.
President Director of PT Pindad, Sigit P. Santosa, said that he is currently waiting for confirmation from the respective ministries regarding the number of units needed before starting large-scale production.
"So we are not stocking up, today our average production is probably around 15 units per day. But later when it is at full speed it can be 30, 40, even 50 units," Sigit said while witnessing the handover of 700 Maung MV3 units to the Indonesian Military (TNI)-National Police (Polri) in a ceremony at Husein Sastranegara Air Base, Bandung, West Java, on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin symbolically handed over the vehicles to TNI Chief General Agus Subiyanto and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
Currently, PT Pindad is completing a production contract for 4,100 Maung MV3 units for the TNI-Polri special vehicles (ransus). Of that number, 700 units have been delivered in the second phase, while the next target is 2,800 units in September.
Details of the vehicle distribution are:
- 50 units for the TNI Headquarters
- 400 units for the Indonesian Army
- 100 units for the Indonesian Navy
- 100 units for the Indonesian Air Force
- 50 units for the National Police
Sjafrie emphasized that the procurement of the Maung MV3 is a form of government commitment in strengthening the operations of the TNI-Polri in maintaining state sovereignty as well as public security and order.
"The government is consistent in providing operational support to the guardians of state sovereignty, the TNI and Polri. This vehicle will be used widely starting from the TNI chief, the chief of police, to the village level," Sjafrie cited.
The Maung MV3 is an operational vehicle designed to support military and non-military operations. Its production was initiated by President Prabowo Subianto when he served as Minister of Defense, as part of an effort to build and support the national automotive industry ecosystem.
