MIND ID sets example on combined CSR-CER programs
State-owned mining holding company MIND ID combines Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Corporate Environmental Responsibility (CER) programs as example of mining industry’s contribution to regional economic growth and social welfare.
Corporate Secretary of MIND ID, Heri Yusuf, emphasized that these programs go beyond corporate obligations and are part of a broader Creating Shared Value (CSV) strategy.
“We are determined to generate positive impacts for communities surrounding mining operations, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Developing local talent is crucial in building a competitive generation and supporting the government’s Golden Indonesia Vision 2045, particularly in economic equity and poverty alleviation,” Heri said as quoted in a statement on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
Throughout 2024, MIND ID and its subsidiaries − PT Aneka Tambang (ANTAM), PT Bukit Asam (PTBA), PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (INALUM), PT Timah, and PT Vale Indonesia − have launched multiple initiatives to empower communities surrounding their operational areas.
ANTAM organized a dairy farming capacity development program in Cimahi, West Java, benefitting 46 local farmers. Additionally, 32 youths from mining areas participated in heavy equipment operation internships, equipping them with skills for better job prospects.
PT Bukit Asam organized operator and mechanic training for 49 participants in Lawang Kidul, Muara Enim, providing them with greater employment opportunities.
PT Freeport Indonesia continues to invest in the future of Papuan youth through the Papuan Sustainable Human Capital Development (PSHCD) program. This initiative has trained 114 young Papuans in electrical mechanics and welding operations, aligning with the company’s core values: Safety, Integrity, Commitment, Respect, and Excellence (SINCERE).
In the tourism sector, INALUM has been supporting eco-cultural tourism development in Meat Village, Toba, North Sumatra. The program aims to position Meat Village as a national tourism destination, creating new business opportunities for the local community.
PT Timah launched the Disabled Entrepreneur School program in West Bangka, providing specialized training for students from State School for Disabled Children SLB in Mentok in batik-making and juice production under professional supervision.
Meanwhile, PT Vale Indonesia conducted heavy equipment operation training in Pasi-pasi, East Luwu, South Sulawesi, for 25 participants. The program equips trainees with industry-relevant certifications to improve their employment prospects.
Heri renewed MIND ID’s commitment to expanding community skill development initiatives in alignment with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision.
