Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali inaugurated the Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo (MNEK) 2025 Monument at Benoa Harbor, Bali, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

"The MNEK 2025 Monument is not only a new icon in Bali, but also a reminder to the whole world of the importance of strengthening maritime diplomatic relations in order to maintain regional stability and world peace," Ali said.

MNEK, hosted by the Indonesian Navy, aims to improve cooperation and interoperability between navies from countries in the Asia-Pacific region, focusing on humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and maritime security operations.

This joint exercise serves as a platform for participating countries to share best practices, improve operational capabilities, and strengthen diplomatic relations. Meant to improve synergy in handling crisis situations, the Indonesian Navy will also involve relevant ministries, local governments, and maritime communities.

MNEK is a multilateral exercise held every two years since 2014 with a focus on Military Operations Other Than War (OMSP).

Admiral Muhammad Ali emphasized that MNEK 2025 is part of the Indonesian Navy's commitment to strengthening maritime diplomacy and increasing synergy between countries.

He also emphasized the importance of this exercise in facing non-war threats such as natural disasters and humanitarian crises.

This exercise involves 38 countries and carries the theme "Maritime Partnership For Peace and Stability" with an emphasis on natural disaster management and humanitarian assistance (Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief - HA/DR)

The MNEK Monument is 8 meters in height, 7x7 meters in width and consists of five levels, each of which has a symbolic meaning. The first level symbolizes success, the second level displays the MNEK 2025 relief and the Balinese Ramayana epic. The third level depicts unity, the fourth level symbolizes determination to achieve goals, and the fifth level is a globe as a symbol of global peace.

With the motto "Save The Sea, to See the Future" MNEK 2025 is expected to be a strategic cooperation event in facing global maritime challenges and strengthening friendship between countries.

The inauguration was attended by Navy delegations from various countries, marking a joint commitment to maintaining global maritime peace and stability.
