The government has granted the Petrochemical Plant in Ciwandan, Cilegon, Banten owned by petrochemical processing and manufacturing company PT Chandra Asri Pacific the status of National Vital Object in the Industrial Sector (OVNI), valid for five years until 2029.

This status was issued by the Ministry of Industry through the Decree of the Minister of Industry No. 3023/2024. Previously, PT Chandra Asri Pacific secured OVNI status in 2012 based on the Decree of the Minister of Industry No. 620/M-IND/Kep/12/2012.

Suryandi, Director of HR & Corporate Affairs of Chandra Asri Group, said that this OVNI status is an award for the company for its contribution in meeting domestic petrochemical product demand.

"At the same time, it helps the government and domestic industry to reduce dependence on imports," he said, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

Suryandi emphasized that this trust further strengthens the company's commitment to carrying out operations with high safety and sustainability standards.

"We are committed to ensure that the industry we manage can continue to provide benefits to the industrial sector and the national economy," he said.

The petrochemical plant covers an area of 115.35 hectares (Ha) which includes high-tech petrochemical upstream plant facilities, utility assets and office buildings.

This plant is a petrochemical plant with the first and only Naphta Cracker facility operating in Indonesia that produces olefins (ethylene, propylene), polyolefins (polyethylene, polypropylene), pygas, and mixed c-4. In addition, it is also the only domestic producer for butadiene, MTBE, and butene.

In addition, PT Chandra Asri Pacific has a significant contribution to the country's economy such as contributions to taxes, which support national income and is active in developing local human resources (HR) through support for educational institutions and increasing competence.
