President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed his commitment to continuing downstream projects as a priority policy inherited from former President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

In his inaugural address before the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) on Sunday, October 20, 2024, Prabowo emphasized that downstreaming is key to achieving economic welfare and prosperity.

"We must implement downstreaming for all the commodities we possess," Prabowo said.

He also indicated that his administration will broaden its focus on downstreaming, extending beyond existing mineral and mining processing to include other commodities.

“The added value from all these commodities should strengthen our economy, allowing our people to enjoy a more prosperous life,” he added.

On another occasion, Prabowo expressed his determination to eradicate poverty in Indonesia. He believes that promoting the downstream processing of natural resources is an effective way to ensure that the benefits of the nation’s wealth reach all citizens.

"I have received a mandate from the people of Indonesia to eliminate poverty," Prabowo declared during his remarks at the Repnas National Conference in Jakarta on Monday, October 14, 2024.

He expressed commitment to safeguard and manage the nation’s wealth for the benefit of all layers of society.

Prabowo called on entrepreneurs involved with the Young Entrepreneurs National Volunteers to collaborate in building a positive economic future.

"Our wealth must be managed well. Our children deserve nutritious food every day. This requires cooperation to ensure a better, more prosperous, and fairer life for all. There should be no more poverty in Indonesia," Prabowo concluded in his video address, on Monday.
