The Ministry of Public Works and Housing has completed the repair of 10 road sections and 1 bridge in East Kalimantan, utilizing a budget of Rp561 billion (USD 39.2 million). This significant infrastructure achievement aligns with the objectives outlined in the Regional Road Presidential Instruction (IJD) and underscores the government's commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and fostering socio-economic development.
The comprehensive repair efforts encompassed a total of 50.93 kilometers of road sections and a 20-meter bridge, strategically distributed across various districts within East Kalimantan. Notable road sections that underwent repair include the Riko-Maridan road and access routes leading to prominent tourist destinations such as the Goa Batu-Tapak Raja in Penajam Paser Utara District, reflecting the government's focus on promoting tourism and bolstering local economies.
The funding for these vital infrastructure projects was sourced from the State Budget (APBN) for the 2023 fiscal year, reflecting a concerted effort by the government to allocate resources towards critical infrastructure development initiatives. With an investment of Rp561 billion, these repairs have not only enhanced the region's transportation network but also contributed to job creation and economic stimulus within local communities.
Hedy Rahadian, the Director General of Bina Marga, emphasized the strategic importance of repairing regional roads in facilitating access to productive areas, particularly around the Nusantara Capital (IKN) region. These rehabilitated roads serve as crucial arteries for the transportation of agricultural and plantation products, thereby bolstering trade and commerce and stimulating economic growth.
These infrastructure improvements are poised to catalyze further growth and development in East Kalimantan, paving the way for enhanced regional connectivity and prosperity.
