Pertamina EP to drill 19 oil wells in West Java this year
Pertamina EP Zone 7, as the contractor under the cooperation contract (KKKS) responsible for upstream oil and gas operations in the western part of Java, has unveiled ambitious plans to intensify drilling activities in the region throughout 2024.
Sakti Parsaulian, Senior Manager of Production and Projects at Pertamina EP Zone 7, said a comprehensive program is underway to drill a total of 19 oil wells during the course of the year. These wells, strategically located across the designated area, are projected to significantly contribute to the region's oil and gas production.
According to Parsaulian, the collective output from these 19 wells is estimated to reach 1,203 barrels of oil per day (bopd) and approximately 14.58 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of natural gas. This substantial production forecast underscores Pertamina EP Zone 7's commitment to enhancing domestic energy resources and meeting the nation's growing energy demands.
Highlighting recent achievements, Parsaulian mentioned the successful drilling of exploratory wells such as East Akasia Cinta (EAC)-001 and East Pondok Aren (EPN)-001. These wells, upon undergoing rigorous testing during production flow assessments, have shown promising hydrocarbon potential. Parsaulian emphasized that further evaluation of these wells is underway, with plans to advance them towards development or production stages, aiming to bolster overall hydrocarbon output.
The strategic importance of this drilling campaign extends beyond mere production targets. It represents a crucial step towards bolstering Indonesia's energy security and reducing reliance on imports. Pertamina EP Zone 7's sustained efforts to prove and develop hydrocarbon reserves underscore its pivotal role in supporting the nation's energy independence objectives.
In addition to production-focused initiatives, Pertamina EP Zone 7 is committed to adopting innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and environmental sustainability. One such initiative is the implementation of the CO2 Removal and Dehydration Unit (DHU) project at the Karang Baru and Jatiasri Collection Stations. This project aims to improve the quality of commercial gas, ensuring compliance with stringent environmental standards while optimizing gas sales to industrial consumers.
The comprehensive drilling program outlined by Pertamina EP Zone 7 underscores the company's proactive approach towards maximizing the potential of Indonesia's hydrocarbon resources. By leveraging advanced technologies and strategic partnerships, Pertamina EP Zone 7 is poised to play a pivotal role in driving sustainable growth in the nation's oil and gas sector, thereby contributing to Indonesia's economic development and energy security.
