Toll road tycoon Jusuf Hamka considers construction cost increase in Cisumdawu toll road not a significant issue

Jusuf Hamka, the owner of PT Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada Tbk (CMNP), stated that the construction cost of the Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) Toll Road has increased from IDR 8 trillion to IDR 11 trillion.

Despite the cost increase, the toll road management company did not view such condition as a significant issue. In fact, they plan to invest an additional IDR 750 billion to create a rest area and tourist destination along the toll road.

This development will include the construction of hotels and other amenities, aimed at diverting some of the congestion in Bandung City to Sumedang.

Jusuf emphasized the need to address losses creatively, with the rest area serving as an incentive for people to use the toll road, ultimately helping to offset losses. He expressed gratitude for the positive outcomes achieved so far and the potential for profitability.

Regarding the Cisumdawu Toll Road, he believes that management costs will be sustainable for at least 20 years and will eventually become self-sufficient. For now, he views it as a form of dedication and service to the community.
