Prabowo Subianto unveils economic programs for the people aiming for economic revival
Prabowo Subianto, Chairman of the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) and also the Minister of Defense has proclaimed five economic programs for the Indonesian people in several fields.
Prabowo aiming for economic revival
Subianto proclaimed these five programs on the basis of the burden the people had to bear during the three years of the pandemic, which was very heavy.
"These programs are made so that the little people, ordinary people, smile and laugh. They will no longer have to live their lives too hard, especially due to the three years of the Covid-19 pandemic," said Prabowo, on July 1, 2023.
The five economic programs cover the fields of health, education, housing, groceries, and business loans.
Subianto said that the program he created was in line with President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's programs, such as the Healthy Indonesia Card and Smart Indonesia Card.
Going forward, he stated that he would immediately formulate various other economic programs in order to optimize Indonesia's economic revival.
Prabowo explained why he presented the five economic programs he quoted from the world's largest auditor service provider, which stated that Indonesia would become the fourth largest economy in the world by 2050, on par with China, India and the United States (US).
However, he believed that the state is only strong if the people's economy is also strengthened. Therefore, no country can truly be strong if the majority of its people cannot access education, health, housing, or business loans.
Meanwhile, he will soon gather a variety of the nation's best economists to conduct a scientific study related to the five programs. The views of these economists will become the basis for preparing for the economic revival of the Indonesian people.
Prabowo's electability rose ahead of the election
Currently, Prabowo is supported by the Gerindra Party and the National Awakening Party which are members of the Greater Indonesia Coalition and is said to be competing with Ganjar Pranowo and Anies Baswedan.
A number of institutions are analyzing Subianto's electability as one of the candidates who can compete in the 2024 general election.
The Indonesian Survey Institute released the result of a survey in which voters chose Prabowo because it stuck in their minds the most.
Meanwhile, a survey conducted by the Algorithm Research & Consulting shows that Prabowo's electability overtook Anies Baswedan in the last six months.
It is unclear if Prabowo's move was intended as a head start for the 2024 Election. However, the Indonesian General Election Commission, through the issuance of General Election Commission Regulation No. 3 of 2022 concerning Stages and Schedule for the 2024 General Election, has stated that the campaign period for the 2024 General Election will start on November 2023.
