The PLN Group signed an MoU with six startups from Indonesia to explore business potential outside of electricity.
This diversification effort is called Beyond kWh as a progressive step for the company to create a sustainable business ecosystem through the Connect Powered by State Power Plant (PLN) program.
"Through the Connext program, we convey our full support to selected startups who will learn and join the PLN ecosystem. This is a form of collaboration between PLN and startups that aims to turn global challenges related to technological disruption into opportunities," said Darmawan Prasodjo, President Director of PLN.
PLN will carry out this program through its subsidiary entities such as PT PLN Icon Plus, PT Haleyora Power and PT Energy Management Indonesia (EMI). Through its subsidiaries, PLN will continue to encourage maximum asset utilization beyond electricity.
"We and six selected startups will maximize assets for the development of digital technology, the internet, and cold chain management," said Hartanto Wibowo, Director of Corporate Planning and Business Development at PLN.
From electricity to cold chain
Hartanto explained that PLN Icon Plus will collaborate with Fresh Factory from the cold chain industry, Nodeflux from the computer vision industry, Amoda from the commercial space management industry, and Kanggo from the home services industry.
Meanwhile, EMI will collaborate with Rekosistem in the field of converting industrial waste to energy to utilize waste as fuel for steam power plants (PLTU). Furthermore, PT Haleyora Power will be collaborating with Imajin from the on-demand manufacturing industry.
Hartanto said that the collaboration effort is a form of adaptation by the company to adapt with technological advances and changes in people's behavior.
