Oil and gas service provider PT Elnusa, which is a subsidiary of State oil and gas company Pertamina, is planning to venture into the new business of LNG (liquefied natural gas) regasification transport.

Novrizal, Vice President for Marketing and Business Development at Elnusa, said that the company is currently preparing for this initiative.

"The goal is to start by the end of this year or early next year, but we may begin on a small scale," Novrizal said during a business event titled: Energizing the Nation through Sustainable Energy Solutions, held in Jakarta on Monday, July 15, 2024.

Elnusa is the only national company that has mastered competencies in the field of oil and gas services, including seismic services, drilling and oil field management.

Novrizal said further that the decision to start on a small scale is due to the need for Elnusa to review how energy distribution from fuel and LNG sources will be managed. Additionally, the future implications of LNG infrastructure must be considered.

According to Novrizal, infrastructure significantly impacts energy transportation, especially with the availability of gas pipelines extending to Eastern Indonesia.

"In the future roadmap, there are several small-scale LNG transport initiatives we plan to undertake," he noted.

PT Elnusa and PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) recently held a kick-off meeting for the Design, Procurement, and Construction Services Project of the Kotabatak Junction SLC Booster Station Support Facilities in Siak regency, Riau.

This collaborative project aims to enhance energy infrastructure in the Kandis area of Siak regency. The support facilities being constructed will play a crucial role in strengthening operational reliability and increasing the oil transmission capacity in the Rokan working area.

Corporate data reveals that the project contract duration is 29 months, with a construction period of 14 months, and is targeted for early completion by February 2025.

During the kick-off meeting, stakeholders from both companies aligned their visions and strategies to ensure the project's success, while also maintaining high safety and environmental standards.

"This project not only enhances the operational reliability of energy infrastructure in the Kandis area but also positively impacts the local economy and community welfare," Pertagas President Director, Gamal Iman Santoso, said.
