Garibaldi Thohir, or Boy Thohir, and his consortium have ensured that the construction of the Safari Park in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan, will begin no later than the end of 2025, with the government having prepared 225 hectares (ha) of land for this project.
“Today, I received pak Garibaldi (Boy) Thohir, who ensured the construction of Taman Safari (Safari Park) with his consortium in the IKN. He expressed his determination that construction will begin no later than the end of this year and will last for the next 2-3 years,” Basuki Hadimuljono, Head of the IKN Authority, said on Friday, February 7, 2025.
The development of Taman Safari aims to be an educational tourist destination about the diversity of Indonesian animals. The planned site for the park has been reviewed alongside a team from Taman Safari Indonesia to ensure its readiness and suitability.
Agung Wicaksono, Deputy for Funding and Investment of the IKN Authority, emphasized that investors in IKN remain committed to following the agreed schedule.
Every investor, who carries out groundbreaking is required to sign a Land Utilization Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the IKN Authority, which includes the stages and schedule of the project. One of the important points is the obligation of investors to start construction within 18 months after the agreement is signed.
Agung said that flexibility in the schedule is still needed to ensure the quality of the project from the design stage to its implementation. The IKN Authority will continue to monitor the development of the project to ensure it remains in accordance with the target.
Currently, the focus of development in the Core Government Center Area (KIPP) is in Development Area (WP) 1A, where the infrastructure is ready.
“Investor interest has also begun to expand to WP 1B and 1C, even though basic infrastructure in the region is still under construction,” Agung said.
With the start of the construction of Taman Safari in IKN, it is hoped that this area can become an educational tourism destination that enriches the ecosystem of the new capital city and attracts more investment to the region.
