Prabowo meets UAE President, discusses defense and international issues

Minister of Defense and President elect Prabowo Subianto met with President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan or MBZ, at Al Shati Palace, Abu Dhabi, on Monday, May 13, 2024.

They discussed bilateral relations, particularly in improving defense and military cooperation, as well as exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

On the occasion, Prabowo also received the “Zayed Medal” from President MBZ as a token of appreciation for the sincere efforts made and the role of the Indonesian defense minister in strengthening relations between the UAE and Indonesia.

Prabowo expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the medal that carries the name of the global humanitarian figure, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

“I hope that relations between Indonesia and the UAE can continue to develop and grow in accordance with the ambitions of both countries in strengthening cooperation in various fields, including defense,” Prabowo, who was accompanied in the meeting by Vice President elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, said.

Meanwhile, President MBZ conveyed his greetings to President Joko Widodo through Prabowo and hoped for a strategic relationship between the UAE and Indonesia for the prosperity of both countries.
