Prabowo meets Commander of the British Armed Forces, discusses bilateral defense cooperation

Jakarta – Indonesian Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto met with Commander of the British Armed Forces/Chief of the Defense Staff of the United Kingdom, Admiral Tony Radakin in Jakarta on Thursday, May 30, 2024, discussing possible defense cooperation between Indonesia and the UK.

The meeting between the two countries continued the discussion of Prabowo’s last visit in March in London with the British Defense Minister, related to increasing bilateral cooperation in the field of defense between Indonesia and the UK.

During the meeting on Thursday, Prabowo expressed his appreciation to Tony Radakin for his visit to the Indonesian Ministry of Defense.

The Indonesian Defense Minister stressed that he would open opportunities to develop an advanced, modern and independent defense industry through cooperation with all countries, one of which is the UK.

“I consider the UK as a close relative and important partner for Indonesia, especially in the field of defense,” Prabowo said.

Meanwhile, the British Armed Force Commander discussed a number of matters regarding defense cooperation between the two countries including areas of cooperation that are priorities and benefit Indonesia, as well as potential cooperation that may be implemented in the future.
