President Prabowo Subianto invited the Indian government to invest in the infrastructure sector, with the South Asian country targeting potential investment in the port and airport sectors.
“Because India has companies engaged in the infrastructure business,” Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs, said as quoted by Antara on Sunday, January 26, 2025.
According to Jaishankar, President Prabowo’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with India will run smoothly, because Prabowo has a common understanding with Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India.
Previously, after the meeting, President Prabowo invited Indian investors to invest in the infrastructure sector in Indonesia, as well as boost cooperation in the technology sector and reduce bureaucracy.
“We invite Indian (industry) groups to take part in Indonesia’s infrastructure program,” Prabowo told the media.
In the meeting, President Prabowo said that he had studied many public service programs in India, including the free lunch program that has existed since 1995.
“We are sending technical teams, and we are currently running many programs that we think are good examples, and we want to learn from India’s experience,” Prabowo said.
