The Indonesian Defense University, in collaboration with German pumps and pump systems manufacturer Wilo, held a guest lecture themed “Pump Systems Working Principles and Practical Applications” on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.

This activity aims to provide university students with insight into the working principles, types, and applications of modern pump technology in the defense and civil sectors.

Founded in Dortmund, Germany, in the year 1872 as the copper and brassware factory “Kupfer- und Messingwaren-Fabrik Louis Opländer”, Wilo is one of the world’s leading premium suppliers of pumps and pump systems.

Wilo focuses on developing sustainable solutions that include energy efficiency, digitalization, and technological innovation. Its products have been used in various sectors, including defense, civil infrastructure, and industry.

Crucial technology

Pump technology plays a crucial role in various applications, from water management to defense infrastructure support systems.

The efficiency and reliability of pump systems are important aspects in facing operational challenges that require sustainable technology solutions.

Ashish Patil, a speaker from Wilo, spoke about basic principles of pump systems, their functions, and their practical implementation in various sectors.

Ashish cited the latest developments, including the use of digital technology and the Internet of Things (IoT) to improve energy efficiency and support environmental sustainability.

Contribution

In support of research development in the academic environment, Wilo donated in July 2024 a pump for students of the Defense University to do research, especially in the exploration and development of pump technology that is relevant to strategic needs.

Addressing the academic event on Wednesday, a lecturer at the Faculty of Defense Science and Technology, Anasya Arsita Laksmi, emphasized the importance of synergy between educational institutions and industry to increase student capacity in facing modern technological challenges.

“This activity is expected to provide a deeper technical understanding and open up opportunities for further collaboration between the Indonesian Defense University and the industry in developing strategic technology,” Anasya said.

This guest lecture was not only a means of knowledge transfer, but also a strategic step to encourage innovation collaboration between academics and industry to support national defense and infrastructure needs.
