Minister of Communication and Informatics, Budi Arie Setiadi, has revealed that a top executive of another U.S. tech giant will soon visit Indonesia days after Apple Inc.’s boss, Tim Cook, made the visit here on Wednesday.
“Next, on April 30, the CEO of Microsoft (Satya Nadella) will come and meet with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo as well. Basically, we expect all these global players to come to Indonesia, not only ceremoniously, but also to invest and develop technological prowess of the country,” Budi said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.
He cited that there are two main points that Microsoft will pursue in Indonesia, namely investment in strategic projects and participation in developing human resources.
Budi emphasized that Indonesia is open to welcoming these figures, considering that Indonesia aims to become an epicenter in the world’s digital ecosystem. He assessed that although the competition is tough, this must be done so that Indonesia will be active in the global technology supply chain and not just end up being a market or consumer.
In addition to Satya Nadella from Microsoft, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics also plans to invite NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang to Indonesia.
