Indonesian Military (TNI) Chief General Agus Subiyanto has validated a major reshuffle in the military institution, presumably the largest ever in a single reorganization stage, involving 300 high-ranking officers (Pati) of the three military branches − Air Force, Army and Navy.

One of the important changes is the appointment of Lieutenant General Mohammad Fadjar as Commander of the Army’s Strategic Reserves Command (Kostrad).Fadjar, who previously served as Commander of the TNI’s Education and Training Command (Dankodiklat), replaces Lieutenant General TNI Mohamad Hasan, who will serve as Commander of the Army’s Education and Training Command (Dankodiklatad).

TNI spokesman, Major General Hariyanto, confirmed the tour of duties within the military institution on Monday, December 9, 2024.

Besides the post of Kostrad commander, the TNI Chief has also approved the appointment of Major General Kunto Arief Wibowo as Commander of the First Joint Regional Defense Command (Kogabwilhan I), replacing Rear Admiral Rachmad Jayadi, who will soon retire.

Another major change is the return of Major General Achiruddin as Commander of the Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres). Achiruddin previously held this position before being promoted to lead the 6thMulawarman Regional Military Command (Kodam) last October. The Mulawarman military command will be led by Major General Rudy Rachmat Nugraha, who previously served as Assistant for Intelligence to the TNI Chief.

In the cyber security sector, the TNI chief appointed Lieutenant General Nugroho Sulistyo Budi as Head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), replacing Lieutenant General (ret.) Hinsa Siburian. Nugroho’s previous position as Chief Inspector of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) will be served by Major General Raden Sidharta Wisnu Graha. Both Nugroho and Sidharta are still waiting for the Presidential Decree (Keppres) for the ratification of the position.

The TNI chief also approved tour of duties among hing-ranking officers serving positions in ministerial and government institutions. They include the appointment  of Major General Maryono as Inspector General at the Ministry of Transportation, Major General Irham Waroihan as Inspector General at the Ministry of Agriculture, and Commodore Ian Heriyawan as Inspector General at the Haj Organizing Agency.

This transfer measure is part of the organizational refreshment and optimization of the TNI’s strategic role in various sectors.

“This tour of duties and promotion aims at strengthening the performance and increasing TNI’s contribution in supporting national programs,” Hariyanto said.
