PT Republik Korpora Indonesia (Republikorp), Indonesia’s private defense industry holding company, signed two strategic agreements with Turkish defense technology companies Baykar Makina and Roketsan Roket Sanayii ve Ticaret A.S (Roketsan) for the localization of production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and advanced guided missile systems.

The signing of the agreements was witnessed by President Prabowo Subianto and Turkish President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan, affirming the commitment of both countries to strengthen the defense sector through local manufacturing and technology transfer.

The first collaboration was carried out between Baykar Makina and Republikorp to form a Joint Venture Company (JVC) that will focus on the production, assembly, and maintenance of UAVs in Indonesia. The main products to be localized are 60 units of the Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance (MALE) TB3 Bayraktar class UAVs and 9 units of the High-Altitude Long-Endurance (HALE) Akinci Bayraktar class.

Republikorp Chairman Norman Joesoef said that this collaboration aims to strengthen the aerospace industry and national defense independence.

“In addition to production, this collaboration opens up opportunities for research and development of UAV technology at the regional level,” he said on Thursday, February 13, 2025.

CEO of Baykar Makina, Haluk Bayraktar, added that his party will contribute to technology transfer, training of experts, and integration of UAVs into the Indonesian defense ecosystem.

The second agreement was made between Roketsan and Republikorp to establish a JVC that will focus on the production of advanced guided missile systems, including anti-ship cruise missiles and multi-platform missiles in Indonesia. The main priority of this collaboration is technology transfer and increasing the capacity of the domestic defense industry.

CEO of Roketsan, Murat Ä°kinci, cited that his party will lead the transfer of missile technology, including intellectual property licensing, production expertise, and technical training for Indonesian engineers. Republikorp is committed to mastering multi-platform guided missile technology and strengthening the supply chain of the national defense industry.

“This step is part of a long-term vision to achieve technological independence, national resilience, and readiness to face future challenges,” Norman Joesoef concluded.
