Secretary-General of Gelora Party, Mahfuz Sidik, has rejected the offer made by the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) to join the government led by Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

PKS’s openness to joining the winning camp indicates a division between PKS and its fanatical supporters.

“If PKS is now willing to align itself because the political process is over, how easy is it for PKS to play with its ideological narrative?” Mahfuz Sidik in his statement on Sunday, April 28, 2024.

He noted that during the campaign period, PKS often launched massive negative attacks against the Prabowo-Gibran pair.

“As far as I can remember, during the campaign process, there were many highly ideological narratives circulating within PKS attacking the figures of Prabowo-Gibran,” he said.

Mahfuz Sidik also referred to the narratives that emerged during the 2019 Presidential Election, where, he said, many narratives from within PKS analogized Prophet Moses as someone who did not need to owe anything to Pharaoh.

“When in 2019 Prabowo Subianto decided to reconcile with Jokowi, many were labeled as traitors to Prabowo Subianto. This mostly came from the PKS support base,” he added.

Gelora Party − established in October 2019 by former members of the PKS − is a member of the Coalition of parties supporting Prabowo-Gibran in the February 14, 2024 presidential election.
