Forbes names BRI the largest company in Indonesia

The Indonesian state-owned company Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) has once again secured its position as the largest company in Indonesia, according to the Forbes Global 2000 list for this year, with a total of nine Indonesian companies making it onto the list.

Forbes has released its Global 2000 list, which ranks the world’s largest public companies based on four key metrics: sales, profits, assets, and market value. In this year’s list, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) reaffirms its dominance as the largest company in Indonesia. BRI has been in Forbes’ Global 2000 list since 2016.

BRI, under the stock code BBRI, reported sales of US$14.9 billion, profits of US$3.9 billion, assets worth US$125.4 billion (Rp2,060 trillion), and a market value of US$46.5 billion. With these figures, BRI ranks 308th globally on the Forbes Global 2000 list.

However, BRI has yet to surpass some of the major companies in Southeast Asia. The list shows that Singaporean banks like DBS rank 138th, OCBC at 219th, and UOB at 240th. Additionally, Thailand’s oil and gas company PTT ranks 243rd, ahead of BRI.
