Anindya Bakrie, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) recently elected in the Chamber’s 2024 Extraordinary National Meeting (Munaslub), has revealed the reasons behind the peaceful agreement reached with his predecessor Arsjad Rasjid.

Speaking at a national dialogue hosted by Alumni Association of the Padjadjaran University in Jakarta on Saturday, September 28, 2024, Anindya emphasized the importance of maintaining unity within Kadin to address future national challenges.

“Kadin must be united, solid, and calm in order to tackle the nation’s upcoming challenges,” Anindya said.

As the newly appointed Chairman, Anindya expressed his openness to various inputs and highlighted his willingness to collaborate with Arsjad Rasjid. He suggested that Arsjad could play a role within Kadin’s new leadership structure.

“Since I was entrusted with this mandate on September 14, I am open to having pak Arsjad assist me, possibly as part of the Advisory Board,” he added.

Anindya affirmed that the decisions made during the Munaslub are final, as the event is the highest decision-making body within Kadin, with broad support from provincial Kadin members and extraordinary members (ALB).

The peace agreement between Anindya and Arsjad was facilitated by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, during a meeting on Friday, September 27, 2024.

The meeting was part of Anindya’s broader efforts to engage with key stakeholders. During this encounter, both Anindya and Arsjad came to an agreement to work together for Kadin’s betterment.

In a widely circulated video, Bahlil can be seen embracing both business leaders, confirming that they had resolved their differences and committed to running the organization more effectively.

“They’ve made peace, and both have committed to strengthening Kadin. This is a positive step forward for the organization,” Bahlil said.

Arsjad Rasjid also acknowledged the resolution reached during the meeting, stating that it was agreed to ensure that Kadin operates in accordance with its organizational rules, specifically its Statutes (AD/ART) and Presidential Decree No. 18/2022 on the Changes to the Kadin Statute.

“The solution achieved in this meeting reflects our commitment to adhere to the organization’s rules,” Arsjad said as quoted in a written statement.

While details of the agreement were not fully disclosed, it was reported that both parties had agreed to expedite the National Meeting, initially scheduled for 2026.

The new schedule would officially recognize Anindya as the Chairman of Kadin, with Arsjad transitioning to the role of Chairman of the Advisory Board.

Both Anindya and Arsjad pledged that Kadin will continue to serve as a strategic partner to the government in promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

Kadin’s leadership across the country remains committed to driving equitable economic progress.
