The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation says that it has not yet received any application for permits or requests related to the establishment and operation of flights from Indonesia Airlines, which has not yet been able to fly in Indonesia.
"We confirm that up to today, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has not received an application for a Scheduled Commercial Air Transportation Standard Certificate or Aircraft Operator Certificate (AOC) on behalf of Indonesia Airlines," Acting Director General of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transportation, Lukman F. Laisa, said on Sunday, March 23, 2025.
Lukman admitted that he needed to provide an official clarification to the public regarding reports that the airline was responding to various information that is currently widely circulated.
Until now, the transportation ministry has not received any application for a permit or any administrative documents from a business entity that claims to be Indonesia Airlines.
"Both related to the establishment of scheduled commercial air transport companies, as well as operational flight permits in Indonesian airspace," Lukman said.
In accordance with the regulations stipulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation No. PM 35/2021 on the Implementation of Air Transportation, every business entity that intends to organize scheduled commercial air transportation is required to comply with the applicable licensing provisions and procedures.
This process includes submission of administrative documents, technical completeness and fulfillment of operational aspects before obtaining a Scheduled Commercial Air Transport Standard Certificate.
Airlines are also required to have an Aircraft Operator Certificate (AOC) as stipulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation No. PM 33/2022 on Civil Aviation Safety Regulations Part 119.
According to Lukman, without these two certificates, airlines are not allowed to carry out scheduled commercial air transportation activities in Indonesia.
"All these requirements must be met in order to guarantee safety, security and flight service standards for the public," he said.
The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Air Transportation is determined to carry out strict supervision on the implementation of airline operations in Indonesia to ensure that all business entities operating are in accordance with national regulatory provisions and international aviation safety standards.
"We also appeal to the public to always get information from official sources. Do not be easily influenced by information that has not been confirmed as true," Lukman said.
The Directorate General of Air Transportation also ensures that it will provide the latest information periodically if there are further developments related to Indonesia Airlines or other airlines.
