I am here, and will not resign: Sri Mulyani
Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, has confirmed that she is not resigning from her position, a response to rumors circulating on social media after Sri Mulyani met with President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
"I emphasize, I am here and will not resign," Sri Mulyani said in a press conference, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
Rumors of her resignation had sparked concerns in the financial market, given her crucial role in Indonesia's fiscal policy. However, with this firm statement, Sri Mulyani attempted to quell the speculation.
Previously, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, haddismissed rumors of Sri Mulyani's resignation from her post in the Red-and-White Cabinet.
Dasco, who is also Deputy Chairman of Prabowo’s Gerindra Party, said he had verified the information to the government and ensured that there is no such plan for a Cabinet reshuffle in the near future.
"As far as I know, the meeting (between Prabowo and Sri Mulyani on March 12, 2025) was to break the fast while discussing the current economic situation," Dasco spoke to journalists while visiting the Kramat Jati wholesale vegetable and fruit market in East Jakarta, on Friday, March 14, 2025.
He emphasized that until now there has been no plan for a cabinet reshuffle involving Sri Mulyani, while addingthat the meeting between President Prabowo and Sri Mulyani was in a very friendly atmosphere.
"And I have checked with the government, there is no plan for a reshuffle. And as for Sri Mulyani, I also haven't had the chance (to communicate directly)," Dasco said.
