Facebook has announced its focus on AI, creators, and messaging service following the platform’s success in connecting 148 million people in Indonesia through 10.5 million active Facebook groups in February 2023. The number signifies a 40 percent increase in growth and daily active users reaching 2 billion worldwide. 

As known, Facebook has already employed AI including in Indonesia to help users in discovering content recommendations that are more tailored to their preferences.

“With its advanced AI capabilities, Facebook can comprehend user preferences and provide content recommendations that are tailored and specific”, as the Country Managing Director Meta Indonesia, Pieter Lydian said, on Friday (24/3).

With the “Show More/Show Less” features, Facebook can also assist AI in determining the type of content that users are interested in.

Moreover, the use of AI on Meta platforms will go beyond that. Facebook will continue to allocate resources in developing AI innovations.

In terms of content preferences, Pieter emphasized that AI will help to identify accounts and content that do not meet community standards, assisting in the establishment of a secure and positive ecosystem.

Secondly, Facebook will launch various features such as the Professional Mode for profile, to integrate access to more professional creator features and open up monetization opportunities.

In addition, there is a cross-sharing feature across platforms that allow creators to directly share content from Instagram to Facebook. Meta is also conducting advertising features on reels in several countries, including Indonesia.

Lastly, Meta noted that more than 140 billion messages are sent daily worldwide through its platforms, and most commonly used by people to connect and share what they find on Facebook.

The Director of Creator Partnership for Southeast Asia at Meta, Revie Sylviana stated, they will continue to monitor the expansion and diverse range of creators on Facebook. Therefore, the company will continue to invest in Indonesian creators by developing features, providing monetization opportunities, and training programs.
