The Ministry of Trade is targeting exports of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to 33 countries to reach US$18.84 billion (Rp306.52 trillion) in 2025, a 12.54 percent incfrease from 2024.
"The MSMEs export target is expected to increase from the previous year by 12.54 percent," Deputy Minister of Trade, Dyah Roro Esti, said on Monday, February 24, 2025.
In an effort to achieve the target, the Ministry of Trade has set up cooperation with the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Synergy in the Development and Empowerment of Export-Ready MSMEs.
"Hopefully, this collaboration can run in the next few years and produce innovations that we are waiting for for MSMEs," Roro said.
Currently, the Ministry of Trade has 33 representative offices abroad, which are expected to be able to conduct market analysis and identify export opportunities for Indonesian MSMEs.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Trade, Isy Karim, said that the discussion of the memorandum of understanding had begun since December 11, 2024 and was completed within two months.
"In two months, representatives of the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of SOEs have intensively prepared the substance of the cooperation and finalized the concept of the memorandum of understanding," Isy said on Monday, February 24, 2025.
Development strategy
The cooperation has a duration of three years with a focus on the development and empowerment of MSMEs to increase exports. Isy cited that there are four main strategies that will be implemented in this cooperation:
- Strengthening the domestic supply chain to ensure product readiness for the international market;
- Increasing human resource capacity so that MSMEs have global competitiveness;
- Support for financing schemes to facilitate access to export capital for MSME actors;
- Other activities that support the development of export MSMEs, as agreed by the two ministries.
Through the signing of the MoU, the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of SOEs are committed to implementing every point of the agreement that has been drawn up.
"We believe that this collaboration will provide great and sustainable benefits for all parties," Isy said.
