The government is encouraging emission reductions to achieve net zero emissions (NZE) through utilization of new and renewable energy (EBT) and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), fossil energy reduction, use of electric vehicles in the transportation sector and increased use of electricity in households and industry.

On the other hand, the National Standardization Agency (BSN), in support of CCCS target, has set four Indonesian National Standards (SNI) .

Kukuh S. Achmad, Head of the BSN, said that in an effort to realize the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision and support the economic growth target of 8 percent, the government continues to encourage the implementation of sustainable development as stated in the National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN) 2025-2045.

"The process of transforming the Indonesian economy into a sustainable green economy must balance economic, social, and environmental aspects, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Paris Agreement, the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision, and  the Net Zero Emissions (NZE) target by 2060," Kukuh said last November.

The four SNI are:

●     First, ISO 27914: 2017 Carbon dioxide capture, transportation and geological storage - Geological storage;

●     Second, ISO/TR 27915: 2017 Carbon dioxide capture, transportation and geological storage - Quantification and verification;

●     Third, ISO/TR 27918: 2018 Lifecycle risk management for integrated CCS projects;

●     Fourth, ISO/TR 27923: 2022 Carbon capture, transportation and geological storage - Injection operations, infrastructure and monitoring;

As of October 2024, BSN has established 15,432 SNIs that support various strategic sectors, including economic transformation, sustainability and national competitiveness.
