Indonesia secures Rp862 billion investment in tourism infrastructure

A number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with a total investment of Rp862 billion (US$53 million) were signed at the 2024 International Tourism Investment Forum (ITIF) regarding a number of tourism infrastructure projects with a number of companies.
In the forum, Sandiaga Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, said that he had succeeded in obtaining five MoUs and was one of the good achievements in the tourism sector.
"We have succeeded in obtaining five MoUs, with total investment is Rp 862 billion, and the total from the first quarter of 2024 has reached almost US$1 billion," Sandiaga Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, said on Sunday, June 9, 2024.
The MoU's are:
- PT Eigerindo Multi Produk Industri which collaborates in managing Parapuar Park, Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara;
- State electricity company PT PLN which collaborates in investing in the supply of electricity in Labuan Bajo;
- PT Agung Toba Nauli which collaborates in utilizing Lake View Resort assets in North Sumatra;
- PT Kamara Citra Destinasi Indonesia and PT Sari Bumi Mas which are collaborating to invest in the construction of a tourist cable car in Ciater, West Java;
- JTA International Investment Holding for the construction of a film studio.
Meanwhile, a number of appreciations were given to Indonesia at the conference for being the first country to be able to hold two major tourism sector conferences at the same time, such as the UN Tourism Conference on Women Empowerment in Bali and ITIF in Jakarta.
Indonesia also received another offer to host other international tourism conferences.
"There is an offer from UN Tourism for Indonesia to host a joint commission, the Asia Pacific UN Tourism meeting next year. "We have also been able to do that," he said.
