PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) guarantees the distribution of fuel oil and LPG via sea routes throughout Ramadan until Idul Fitri period this year.
PIS Corporate Secretary, Muh. Aryomekka Firdaus, said that PIS has formed a special task force and deployed a fleet of 326 ships to ensure the smooth availability of national energy.
“PIS has prepared a fleet of 318 ships along with an additional 8 reserve ships. Among them, 283 ships are dedicated to ensuring smooth distribution of energy domestically, while 35 tanker ships are intended to transport supplies from abroad,” Aryomekka said as quoted from PIS website on March 30, 2024.
Of the domestic tanker fleet, 179 ships are allocated for the transportation of oil products, 39 ships for LPG, 26 ships for crude oil, and the rest are used for the transportation of aviation fuel, naphtha, asphalt, petrochemicals, and various other products." he added.
PIS tanker fleet is prepared with on-demand operational commitment, on-spec, on-time, distribution of fuel and LPG needs, according to the required technical specifications, and operated according to the predetermined schedule to ensure timely transportation.
PIS also ensures periodic monitoring of fuel oil and LPG distribution, including monitoring all depots regarding stock conditions, DOT, coverage days, ship positions, and conditions.
In addition, PIS also coordinates with all relevant parties for mitigation and anticipation if there is a surge in demand at a terminal.
Regarding ship readiness, Aryomekka said that digital monitoring used PIS-owned applications and technology to detect emerging situations, anticipate emergencies, and effectively mitigate other risks.
"The company conducts periodic monitoring of fuel oil and LPG distribution using advanced technologies such as EDTP 3.0, VCOMS, IPMAN, and weather monitoring provided by BMKG," said Aryomekka.
The technology used to monitor ship movements and inventories is integrated with the Integrated Enterprise Data & Command Center (IEDCC). This center serves as a focal point for managing energy distribution at various stages, from upstream operations, refineries, shipping, BBM terminals to PT Pertamina (Persero) gas stations.
In addition to ensuring ship readiness, PIS, which now oversees 6 strategic terminals, also guarantees smooth operations at ports, bunkers, and depots. PIS prioritizes timeliness by minimizing bunker waiting time while maintaining bunker ship quality standards.
Operational efficiency at ports is further guaranteed through close coordination with relevant government agencies, including immigration, customs, quarantine, and port authorities.
