The Capital City of Nusantara Authority (OIKN) recorded a budget absorption throughout 2023 to support IKN development reaching Rp271.71 billion (US$17.3 million)

Head of the Capital City Authority, Bambang Susantono, said the budget realization reached 95.04 percent of OIKN's allocation in 2023 amounting to Rp285.9 billion.

"We could reach 95 percent because the needs are tight; of course, [the realization] could be larger than what is described here," Bambang told a hearing with Commission II of the House of Representatives on Monday, March 18, 2024.

Bambang said the realization of the Rp271.71 billion budget was absorbed by 9 level 1 units to support the development of the prospective new capital city located in Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan.

Referring to the shared presentation, the OIKN Secretariat absorbed the largest budget amounting to Rp174.13 billion. Then, the Deputy for Planning and Land absorbed Rp20.30 billion. The third position was held by the OIKN Deputy with details of the Deputy for Environmental and Natural Resource absorbing Rp14.89 billion, the Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation absorbing Rp13.18 billion, and the Deputy for Development Control absorbing Rp12.15 billion.

Furthermore, the Deputy for Funding and Investment absorbed Rp11.13 billion, the Deputy for Social, Cultural, and Community Empowerment absorbed Rp10.53 billion, the Deputy for Infrastructure and Facilities absorbed Rp8.67 billion, and the Legal and Compliance Work Unit absorbed Rp8.14 billion.

The budget allocation for OIKN this year is Rp434 billion, distributed to all deputies and the secretariat. In broad terms, the budget allocation will be used to support two main programs, namely the strategic area development program amounting to 46.7 percent or Rp202.89 billion. Meanwhile, the remainder of Rp231.12 billion or 53.3 percent of the total budget will be used to run management support programs. "So, if people perceive the budget for IKN as trillions, but from our side to coordinate, collaborate, communicate, and consolidate, this is the budget used, around Rp434 billion," Bambang said.
