One of Pertamina NRE's businesses is the generation of electricity from clean energy sources, including geothermal, solar, biogas and steam gas.

From geothermal power plants (PLTP) operated by its subsidiary, PT Pertamina Gothermal Energy (PGEO), electricity production generated until the
end of 2023 reached 4.7 million MWh (unaudited) or an increased by 2 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, production from renewable energy-based power plants, such as solar power plants (PLTS) and biogas power plants (PLTBg) totalled 47 thousand MWh (unaudited), an increase by 59 percent YoY.

In addition, one of Pertamina NRE's achievements is the operation of the Java-1 unit 2 gas steam power plant (PLTGU) with a capacity of 880 MW in December 2023.
With the operation of the power plant, there is an additional electricity production of 751 thousand MWh.

Not only that, Rokan Block in Riau has also operated a solar power plant with a capacity of 25.7 MWp in the Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) working area and a solar power plant with a capacity of 2.25 MWp in the Pertamina Plaju Refinery operating area.

Dicky Septriadi, Corporate Secretary of Pertamina NRE stated that Pertamina's achievements do not stop here, it is finalizing a series of final stage processes for several projects that are ready to be operated in 2024.

"Such as Balongan Refinery solar panel, Dumai Refinery solar panel, Cilacap Refinery solar panel, and solar at Pertamina Marketing facilities, and of course PLTGU Jawa-1 Unit 1 steam and gas power plant. We optimize everything to create a clean energy ecosystem in Indonesia," he said in a statement on Thursday.

Dicky stated that the good operational performance was also supported by excellent HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, Environment) performance, where the total safe working hours reached 17,970,302 and without fatalities.

Over the past year, Pertamina NRE has successfully implemented various strategic collaborations in the green industry, including commercial cooperation with Perhutani in the Nature and Ecosystem Based Solutions (NEBS) Project for the Semamu concession, development of green hydrogen and green ammonia. Then the cooperation of electric vehicle trial projects with Pertamina Patra Niaga (PPN) and Honda.

Pertamina also succeeded in getting PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGEO) listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on 25 February 2023. PGEO also won the Way Ratai geothermal working area management project in collaboration with Chevron, followed by the GroundBreaking of the 55 MW Lumut Balai geothermal power plant unit 2 in Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra.

Not only that, another proud news is Pertamina NRE's success in becoming the first carbon credit seller at the launch of the carbon exchange (IDXCarbon) inaugurated by Indonesian President Joko Widodo on 26 September 2023.
