Ensign InfoSecurity 2022 report reveals vulnerable sectors in Indonesia amid increasing cyber security threats

Ensign InfoSecurity in its 2022 Cyber Threat Landscape in Indonesia report said the business sectors most vulnerable to cyberattacks are financial services, the insurance industry, the commercial industry, and the government.

"The government sector, financial services, insurance industry and commercial industry are the industry groups most frequently attacked by cyber threat actors," said Teo Xiang Zheng, Vice President of Advisory, Consulting, Ensign InfoSecurity, on August 3, 2023.

Ensign InfoSecurity listed several groups often committed cyberattacks and identified Dark Pink, Desorden, and Naikon as the groups to watch out for.

The attacks from this group were able to master the Malay language, indicating a high level of competence, and adaptability.

Regionally, the use of ransomware and wiperware as cyberweapons has increased in the past year. The use of these two platforms has grown to become more sophisticated over time.

In addition, vulnerability reports on various cyber supply chain vulnerabilities, both hardware and software, are still ongoing. A number of large companies have fallen victim to ransomware attacks and the sale of hacked data.

Meanwhile, cyber actors also continue to leverage IoT, mobile devices, applications, and operational technologies to expand target audiences.

Meanwhile, the development of the use of Ransomware as a Service (Raas) has also increased the targeting of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). By using RaaS, it is possible for people with no technical skills to purchase Ransomware to carry out cyber attacks.
