The Ministry of Public Works and Housing has initiated the auction for the Construction of Second Government Infrastructure in the National Capital of Nusantara (IKN) worth Rp1.7 trillion (US$ 109 million). Quoting the official page of the Electronic Procurement Service (LPSE) of the ministry, the Construction of Second Government Infrastructure encompasses the construction of the Vice President's Palace, Vice President's Office, Vice President's Secretariat Office, Vice President's Residence, and other supporting buildings in IKN.

"The location of the Construction of Secnd Government Infrastructure is in the West Residence area in the SUB BWP 1A government zone," stated the ministry in its auction document, quoted on Dec. 29, 2023. The area of the Second Government Infrastructure is reported to cover 141,121 square meters with hilly terrain conditions, presenting both potential and challenges in the planning of the area.

Meanwhile, the existing land is reportedly covered by an industrial forest with homogenous eucalyptus, rubber, and shrub trees that will be managed to be transformed into a diverse forest with various tree species in the future.

"The construction design and build work funding for the Construction of Second Government Infrastructure activities in IKN are charged to the Budget Implementation Document (DIPA) of the Second Regional Infrastructure Implementation Unit of East Kalimantan Province, Regional Infrastructure Office of East Kalimantan, Directorate General of Cipta Karya, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing Fiscal Year 2024-2025," said the ministry.

The construction for the Second Government Infrastructure in IKN is expected to take 450 calendar days from the signing of the Work Commencement Letter (SPMK) until the first handover (Provisional Hand Over - PHO). The announcement of the prequalification auction results is scheduled for January 25, 2024. Meanwhile, the announcement of the winning bid for the Rp1.7 trillion project is planned for March 12, 2024.
