PT ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Indonesia (PT STT GDC Indonesia) has launched its first data center, STT Jakarta 1, in Bekasi, West Java.

The facility is the result of a collaboration between the company and global investment firm Temasek and local Indonesian conglomerate Triputra Group.

Targets government and private

Lionel Yeo, the Southeast Asia CEO of STT GDC, stated that the data center, with a capacity of up to 72 megawatts, targets both the government sector and private enterprises.

"Our strategic market approach, ongoing initiatives, and operational excellence enable customers to optimize their most valuable asset, which is data," said Yeo in a press release on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.

Equipped with latest computing infrastructure

Furthermore, the infrastructure readiness to accommodate the latest computing infrastructure, such as GPUs to support the demand driven by AI, including air and liquid cooling options, strategic location near the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road, and STT GDC's proven and refined global operational standards accumulated over nine years and more than 50 locations of data centers worldwide.

"The high level of digitalization in Indonesia, combined with the introduction of 5G technology, has led to an increase in data production and usage. This surge in data needs has elevated the demand for domestic data centers. STT Jakarta 1 is built to support the long-term expansion of Indonesia's digital economy," added Yeo.

Yeo emphasized that collaborations with several local and global companies enable STT Jakarta 1 to meet the needs of domestic, regional, and international connectivity.

Carbon-neutral data center

Hendrikus Hendra Gozali, the Country Head of PT STT GDC Indonesia, believes that the 18,000-square-meter STT Jakarta 1 data center is well-suited to meet the specific needs of cloud, technology, banking and finance, content, gaming, e-commerce, and other enterprise customers.

In line with STT GDC's global excellence standards and carbon-neutral commitment, STT Jakarta 1 will implement carbon-neutral operational principles from the outset.

"Data centers play a crucial role in developing the digital ecosystem in Indonesia, which requires collaboration between technology and connectivity partners. With state-of-the-art infrastructure, a secure environment, and measurable solutions, STT Jakarta 1 has a unique position to drive collaboration within the digital ecosystem, empowering organizations to navigate the rapidly changing digital landscape swiftly and steadily," said Hendrikus.
