Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto officially inaugurated the operations of six renewable energy companies in the Wiraraja Industrial Zone in Batam, on Monday (5/6).
Minister Airlangga underlined that the entry of these six companies into Indonesia is a testament to the allure of Riau Islands, particularly Batam, for investors.
“The investment that we are inaugurating today holds substantial value, amounting to US$800 million or approximately IDR 12 trillion, and can provide employment opportunities for no less than 13,000 workers,” Airlangga said.
Minister Airlangga claimed that the inauguration of these companies is closely related to the investment-friendly climate in Batam. This is further enhanced by the efficiency of bureaucratic processes for services and licensing, making it easier for investments to enter the region.
Lineup of inaugurated companies
The six companies that were inaugurated are PT Jaya Electrical Energy, Marubeni Global Indonesia, Wiraraja Yunan International, Apollo Solar Indonesia, Alpha Solar, and Tynergi Technology Indonesia.
According to president director of Wiraraja Group Ahmad Ma’ruf Maulana, the majority of the companies come from various countries including the US, China, Singapore, as well as Indonesian companies.
These companies primarily focus on producing components and supporting materials for renewable energy technology such as solar panels, semiconductors, and silicon refining, among others.
“And fortunately, some of these companies are already in operation and their products have been exported overseas. This inauguration is tangible evidence of the growing and developing economy in the Riau Islands,” Ma’ruf added.
