Envision Group founder and CEO Lei Zhang has confirmed that Envision, in partnership with PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (BNBR), will embark on the development of a Net Zero Industrial Park in South Sulawesi, dedicated to nickel processing. The joint venture between the two companies involves a substantial investment of US$9 billion.

Notably, the park’s operations, encompassing nickel smelting, battery manufacturing, and recycling activities, will rely solely on the renewable energy generated by wind and solar power plants.

Net Zero Industrial Park’s vision

It is worth noting that the Net Zero Industrial Park project is a continuation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed earlier this year in Switzerland between Envision Group, Bakrie, and Glencore. This initiative serves as a significant endeavor to participate in Indonesia’s electric vehicle battery ecosystem.

BNBR president director and CEO Anindya Bakrie expressed immense satisfaction towards the collaboration with Envision Group, as it presents a remarkable opportunity for the company to contribute even more significantly to Indonesia’s ongoing energy transition.

“The first Net Zero Industrial Park in Southeast Asia, to be constructed in South Sulawesi, will be utilized for processing nickel materials, which will then be refined at the Envision Group’s Giga Factories, spread in the UK, Spain, France, and the US,” Anindya said.

The partnership will also develop AIoT (Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things) as the backbone of green energy and electric vehicle ecosystems.

Envision Group’s partnership in Indonesia

Envision Group is the world’s leading green and net zero technology solutions. It consistently promotes wind and solar as coal substitutes, as well as batteries and hydrogen fuel as petroleum substitutes.

Envision specializes in the design, sale, and operation of smart wind turbines, energy storage systems, and innovative green hydrogen solutions under Envision Energy. Additionally, it offers AIoT-powered batteries through Envision AESC and boasts the world’s largest AIoT operating system via Envision Digital.

Envision chose Indonesia because of its abundant underground natural resources, such as nickel and copper, wind, solar, and hydro energy potentials.

Envision Group, in collaboration with PT Bantaeng Sinergi Cemerlang, a regional-owned company, is also embarking on a partnership to develop a wind farm (PLTB) in Bantaeng Regency through Envision Green Energi Indonesia.

The project entails the installation of 40 onshore wind turbines valued at approximately IDR3.15 trillion and 60 offshore wind turbines valued at IDR10 trillion. Collectively, these turbines have the capacity to generate up to 1.16 million MWH of electricity.
