The first batch of 25 Indonesian military health personnel for the Palestine humanitarian mission arrived in El Arish, Egypt, at 10 am local time on Saturday, August 10, 2024.

“Twenty-five Indonesian military health personnel arrived in Egypt on Saturday after an overnight transit in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates. The next batch of 15 military health personnel will depart to Egypt depending on the development of security situation there,” Spokesman of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Edwin Adrian Sumantha, said in a statement on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

The 25 military health personnel, led by Colonel Adry Pasmawi, a general practitioner at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, then attended the safety briefing and field orientation that was held onboard a floating hospital in El Arish on Sunday.

They also began to examine a number of patients who were undergoing treatment and rehabilitation in the floating hospital, which has been operational since February 2024 and has treated more than 3,700 Palestinians who were victims of Israel attacks.

The presence of Indonesian military health workers is expected to make positive contribution to residents affected by the Palestine-Israel conflict and at the same time exhibit Indonesia’s humanitarian support in the region.
