TDE targets 500 MW data center capacity by 2030, emphasizing AI development

PT Telkom Data Ekosistem (TDE), a subsidiary of State telecommunication company PT Telkom Indonesia, sees a bright future in data center business, with plans to expand its capacity to 400-500 MW by 2030, driven by the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

The company aims to develop data centers with a target capacity of 400-500 Megawatts (MW) by 2030, reflecting its commitment to supporting the digital infrastructure needed for AI expansion.

Honesti Basyir, Director of Group Business Development at Telkom Indonesia, highlighted that TDE’s data centers, branded as NeutraDC, play a crucial role in the advancement of AI.

“AI is not only transforming how we work but is also opening up new opportunities across various sectors. Digital infrastructure is the cornerstone for realizing this potential,” Honesti told a press conference for the NeutraDC Summit 2024 pre-event in Jakarta on Monday, August 19, 2024.

NeutraDC CEO, Andreuw Th.A.F, further elaborated on the impact of AI, noting that it enhances automation and strengthens decision-making processes. He also emphasized the importance of addressing critical issues such as ethics, privacy, and sustainability in the context of AI.

“We aim to provide a more holistic perspective on AI,” Andreuw said.

As part of its ongoing expansion, Telkom currently operates 32 data centers across Indonesia and abroad, with a total capacity of 42 MW. The company reported earnings of Rp1 trillion from its data center and cloud businesses in the first half of 2024.

Looking ahead, Telkom plans to host the NeutraDC Summit 2024, which will focus on the pivotal role of data centers in supporting the rapid growth of AI.
