Prabowo meets U.S. business leaders: “They believe in Indonesia’s potential”

Washington, D.C. — On November 11, 2024, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto engaged in a pivotal dialogue with members of The United States Indonesia Society (USINDO) during his visit to Washington, D.C. The meeting, attended by top executives from major U.S. companies, underscored mutual interests in expanding economic partnerships and highlighted U.S. confidence in Indonesia’s economic prospects.

USINDO, a non-governmental organization dedicated to fostering understanding and relations between the U.S. and Indonesia, organized the meeting to provide a platform for U.S. business leaders to discuss collaborative opportunities with Indonesia. Prabowo’s discussion with representatives from prominent companies—including Freeport-McMoRan, S&P Global, Boeing, BP America, ExxonMobil, Citi, and Caterpillar—took place in a relaxed setting and featured representatives from 25 prominent U.S. and Indonesian entities.

“I am delighted to engage with some of the largest and most influential companies globally,” Prabowo stated. “The U.S. has a longstanding investment presence in Indonesia and has contributed significantly to our nation’s development. Their sustained commitment to our economy is a testament to the strength of our bilateral relations.”

Prabowo encouraged U.S. companies to deepen their investments and participation in Indonesia’s economic growth, underscoring the nation’s commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment. “They continue to have confidence in Indonesia’s economy, and I encourage them to further invest and contribute to our development vision,” Prabowo added.

Accompanying Prabowo were Indonesian officials, including Foreign Minister Sugiono, Investment Minister/Head of BKPM M. Rosan Roeslani, Deputy Minister of Higher Education Prof. Stella Christie, Indonesian Embassy representative Ida Bagus Made Bimantara, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. This strategic meeting highlighted Indonesia’s commitment to fostering deeper economic cooperation with the U.S.
