Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah, has revealed that the Indonesian government is working to strengthen labor cooperation with the People’s Republic of China. The issue was discussed during her meeting with Chines Minister of Human Resources and Social Security, Wang Xiaoping, in Beijing on July 3, 2024.
“Indonesia and China have already established close cooperation in various fields. This visit aims to further focus on strengthening labor cooperation between the two countries,” Ida said in a statement on Thursday, July 4, 2024.
Ida noted that the discussions during the visit included the development of the Labor Market Information System (LMIS), vocational training, enhancing Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards, improving Indonesia’s National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI), and entrepreneurship development.
She added that regarding vocational training, the Ministry of Manpower is currently exploring several collaborations with the Chinese government, including the development of the Vocational and Productivity Training Center (BPVP) Ternate in Sofifi through a grant from China and the development of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Indonesia in collaboration with China International Intellectech Group Co., Ltd. (CIIC Group).
“In the future, we hope this exploratory visit will provide valuable insights and benefits to build labor cooperation in Indonesia,” she said.
