State-owned construction company PT Wijaya Karya Beton (WTON) and Fairatmos, an environmental technology company, are collaborating on a project that will contribute for measures to reduce carbon emissions and support a green economy.

For the project, WIKA Beton will utilize Fairatmos’s remote sensing and machine learning technology to analyze the potential for carbon absorption on a 26-hectare land in Kariangau, West Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.

Verly Widiantoro, Director of Engineering and Production of WIKA Beton, and Natalia Rialucky Tampubolon, Director of PT Air for All (Fairatmos), have recently agreed to develop a digital technology-based framework to measure and optimize accurate carbon absorption potential.

In this collaboration, WIKA Beton will provide geospatial data and technical information, as well as provide access for Fairatmas to conduct concession land checks. This analysis will be the basis for designing a sustainable land management strategy.

Meanwhile, Fairatmos will process the data obtained from WIKA Beton with the AtmosCheck digital technology-based application. This analysis includes area feasibility analysis, carbon potential estimation, and annual income potential using the recommended methodology.

Verly said the collaboration with Fairatmos is part of the company’s long-term strategy to create a greener and more sustainable industry.

“This initiative is part of WIKA Beton’s innovation in the green industry. With this collaboration, we ensure that the company actively contributes to decarbonization efforts, both at the national and global levels,” Verly said on Friday, January 31, 2025.

Meanwhile, Natalia added that this collaboration will be a model for the construction sector in implementing science and technology-based decarbonization.

“With accurate data, we can develop more effective solutions to reduce carbon emissions and support the net zero emissions (NZE) target by 2050,” she said.
