President-elect Prabowo Subianto is expected to announce his Cabinet line-up hours after he and Vice president-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka were inaugurated as the country’s pair of top leadership on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

Although it is still a week away, list of individuals that will potentially sit in the Prabowo-Gibran 2024-2029 Cabinet has circulated among media circle.

Although he did not provide names, Deputy Secretary General of Gerindra Party, Andi Rahmad Wijaya, revealed that many Cabinet ministers of the outgoing President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s administration will be in Prabowo’s list of Cabinet ministers.

“I don’t have the statistics with me, but at least I can say that the majority of pak Jokowi’s cabinet members will be in pak Prabowo’s cabinet,” Andi said, as quoted by KompasTV on October 13, 2024.

A number of figures were summoned to the residence of Prabowo on Jalan Kertanegara No. 4 in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Monday, October 14, 2024. They included ministers in Jokowi’s cabinet, like Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Minister/State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of State-owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono and Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo.

Non-cabinet figures included Chairman of Prabowo-Gibran Legal Team Yusril Ihza Mahendra, Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque Nasaruddin Umar, Gerindra Party figures Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Fadli Zon and Maruarar Sirait, Golkar Party executives maman Abdurrahman and Nusron Wahid, former commissioner at the National Human Rights Commission Natalius Pigai, former Regent of Batang Wihaji, and businesswoman Widiyanti Putri Wardhana.

Prabowo’s cabinet is anticipated to have 46 ministries as earlier revealed by Gerindra Deputy Chairman Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. Dasco, however, also declined to confirm the exact figure, saying that the final decision will be on Prabowo himself.

He only cited that a number of ministries under Jokowi’s presidency will be split into several ministries/agencies in order to optimize their roles and functions. The new ministries would include the Ministry of Forestry, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Public Housing, and the Ministry of Transmigration. Also, the Ministry of Law, the Ministry of Human Rights, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Creative Economy, the Ministry of Indonesian Migrant Workers, and the National Nutrition Agency.

No representative from Nasdem

Prabowo’s cabinet is unlikely to include figures from Nasdem Party. Nasdem was not among members of coalition of parties that supportes Prabowo-Gibran in the February 14 presidential election. It, however, decided to join the coalition after the announcement of the election winner.

Secretary-general of Nasdem Party, Hermawi Taslim, said that his party would continue to support the Prabowo government although none of its cadres are not in his Cabinet.

“Taking many things into consideration, we have decided not to be in the Cabinet (of President-elect Prabowo Subianto),” he said, as quoted by Kompas.com on October 13, 2024.
