Mathias Cormann, Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) met with President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta on Thursday, November 28, 2024 to discuss Indonesia’s membership accession to the OECD.
“In principle, the meeting is to deliver a report on Indonesia’s progress,” Prabowo said on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
The meeting also discussed the follow-up to the report “The OECD Economic Survey of Indonesia 2024” which was launched at the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.
This survey is a routine OECD publication resulting from policy dialogue between the OECD and senior policymakers from developed and developing countries, including Indonesia.
This report also covers macroeconomic, labor, social, investment, trade, environmental, and other policy issues.
Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto who accompanied President Prabowo in the meeting, added that this report also contains a number of inputs and suggestions to improve the productivity and performance of the government in various sectors, including the digital sector, as well as other priority programs such as food and energy security to free nutritious meals for school children and pregnant women.
This suggestion also contains a comparison based on data from 38 OECD member countries which is useful as a reference for Indonesia to increase the effectiveness of related policies.
“So the recommendation is, they have evaluated that the achievement of the projected economic growth of 5.2 percent in 2025 can be achieved. However, they also have notes for the future that can also be studied in the future,” Airlangga said.
