Digital transformation of PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), a subsidiary of state-owned energy company Pertamina, has gained appreciation and recognition from global shipping industry players upon its success in developing a claim module system in ship operations.

The ship claim module system developed by the PIS digital team has been tested to make ship operations more transparent, so that operational cost elements can be better monitored. The excellence of this claims system has led PIS to establish its position as a leader in the digitization of the shipping industry in Southeast Asia by internally developing complex digital products, especially the claims module.

The success of this digital claims model has even been recognized by Vesson Nautical LLC, a leading maritime software company from the United States, which is now interested in collaborating with PIS.

PIS even officially received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from Veson Nautical LLC. In the LOI, Veson expresses interest in working with PIS in developing the claims module that PIS had previously initiated.

The submission of this LOI marks an important step in the collaboration between the two companies to develop a claims module in Veson’s IMOS system, which is widely used by global shipping industry players. The collaboration with Veson is expected to improve Pertamina’s maritime operational performance through the advanced platform and data solutions offered by Veson.

The development of the claims module itself is considered important because it can make a significant contribution to cost recovery for the company.

The submission of the readiness to cooperate document was carried out at the PIS Asia Pacific office in Singapore last week. Attended by PIS Human Resources and Business Support Director Surya Tri Harto and Veson Nautical LLC Commercial Director Russ Hubbard.

Surya Tri Harto said the expression of interest in collaboration from Veson symbolizes the two companies’ commitment to achieving common goals in digital innovation.

“This collaboration reflects PIS’s vision to lead digital transformation in the shipping sector, and reinforces Veson’s commitment to improving the operational efficiency of their partners around the world. With Veson’s support and technological innovation, PIS is poised to bring positive change to the maritime industry,” Surya said in a statement on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

Veson Nautical LLC Commercial Director Russ Hubbard said PIS, which has previously used the Veson platform in accordance with IMO (International Maritime Organization) standards, has proven its excellence in developing digital technology for PIS ship operations.

“PIS appears to have enhanced its digital capabilities to manage increasingly diverse maritime operations. Therefore, in line with the long-term target of digital transformation, we are interested in exploring the potential for future cooperation,” Russ said.
