PT Pelita Air Service, an aviation subholding of State energy company PT Pertamina, and the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on energy conservation and renewable energy initiatives at Pondok Cabe Airport in South Tangerang, Banten.
This agreement marks the transformation of the airport into an eco-friendly model, with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) from Germany overseeing the project.
The signing of the agreement, attended by officials from PT Pelita Air Service, EBTKE directorate general, and PT Pertamina, underscores the collective aim of reducing carbon emissions and mitigating climate change.
The project includes technical studies, energy management for sustainable efficiency, and the use of renewable energy sources, laying the foundation for Pondok Cabe as a “green airport” model.
Dendy Kurniawan, CEO of PT Pelita Air Service, emphasized the company’s commitment to a sustainable aviation industry aligned with Pertamina’s Net Zero Emission target by 2060.
Pertamina Senior Vice President for Corporate Finance, Bagus Agung Rahadiansyah, expressed optimism that Pondok Cabe could serve as a blueprint for similar projects across Indonesian airports.
Through this collaboration, Pelita Air hopes to drive meaningful progress toward environmental sustainability in Indonesia’s aviation sector.
