Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), has revealed that the government plans to review 280 infrastructure projects listed under the National Strategic Projects (PSN) to synergize with existing infrastructure.

He cited that there will be adjustments to some of the planned and under-construction strategic projects. Currently, the infrastructure review process in the PSN list is underway.

“This infrastructure must be integrated from the start. Don’t think about it after the infrastructure has been built. Adjustments when construction is complete are not easy, because the project price is already too high,” AHY said on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

He said proper planning can help reduce the potential for inefficiency and budget leakage in the development of PSN projects. Currently, one of the projects that is of concern is the Tropical Coastland Ecotourism project in the northern coastal area of Tangerang, Banten.

Secretary at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, Susiwijono Moegiarso, said earlier that the evaluation carried out by the Committee for the Acceleration of Priority Infrastructure Provision (KPPIP) has entered the stage of delivering the evaluation results.

Furthermore, the related ministries that serve as the proposers or technical recommendation providers are asked to follow up on the evaluation results with in-depth technical analysis and submit recommendations for project sustainability.

“The evaluation of the National Strategic Project has been carried out. Currently, we are asking all Ministries/Technical Institutions to follow up on the proposals or recommendations they have given,” Susiwijono said on January 23, 2025.

Priority projects

Meanwhile, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo has planned to propose several infrastructure projects, such as toll roads, dams, sports stadiums and hospitals, that were previously discussed with the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development (Kemenko IPK) to be submitted to President Prabowo Subianto to become the focus of the government and be included in the PSN list.

“We will decide on several projects that we think are worthy for the government to pass on to President Prabowo. However, perhaps the President has other thoughts regarding the focus on infrastructure,” Dody said on January 10, 2025.

He said further that the project approved by the President could most likely become a PSN. However, he emphasized that the decision on the infrastructure that becomes a PSN is the authority of the President directly.
