Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) and Acting Head of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, reveals that the government has allocated Rp90 billion (US$5.6 million) to compensate residents whose land is affected by the construction of the new capital city.

“The funds are ready. We have prepared around Rp90 billion for compensation,” Basuki said on Saturday, August 3, 2024.

He said further that an integrated team comprising provincial and district governments, the Ministry of PUPR, the IKN Authority. and the National Land Agency (BPN) is already working on the compensation process.

Following the issuance of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 75/2024 on the Acceleration of Nusantara Capital City Development, affected residents can choose to receive compensation or be relocated through the Social Impact Handling (PDSK) Plus scheme.

“We will discuss again (with the residents) about their preferences. We are very attentive to the people’s interests. I have asked for permission from the Finance Minister so that the Ministry of PUPR can make payments there (IKN) to support the IKN Authority,” Basuki said.

While hei did not clarify whether the Rp90 billion budget covers the acquisition of 2,086 hectares of land affected by the IKN development or just the first phase, the minister said that the budget is allocated for land compensation for the IKN Toll Road 6A, Toll Road 6B, and the Sepaku River flood control area.

The IKN Authority is committed to accelerating the development of the new capital without disadvantaging the affected residents. This step is prepared to ensure that the IKN development progresses swiftly and on time, while respecting the people’s rights as directed by President Joko Widodo.

The IKN Authority aims to complete the new capital city development efficiently. The construction is being expedited, and the affected residents are treated fairly and justly according to the directives of the head of state.
