During a “Conversation with Sam Altman” event on Wednesday (14/6), The Head of the Artificial Intelligence Industry Research and Innovation Collaboration (KORIKA), Hammam Riza, has announced a partnership with OpenAI to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) system that aligns with the values of the Indonesian nation.
Human-in-the-loop approach
KORIKA and OpenAI intend to develop an AI system that respects and aligns with the cultural and societal values of Indonesia.
Riza emphasized the importance of building trustworthy AI in a diverse country like Indonesia, where considerations of ethnicity, religion, race, and social groups (SARA) play a significant role.
In relation to this issue, the collaboration aims to build an AI technology based on ‘human-in-the-loop’ approach, emphasizing the active involvement of humans in every stage of development.
“The AI that we will build will be based on human-in-the-loop, meaning, human attachment in all of its processes,” Riza explained.
By involving humans, according to Riza, the development team can prevent biased data and generate AI that adheres to ethical guidelines. The system aims to provide transparency and accountability, assuring users that the information produced is reliable and trustworthy.
Optimizing workforce efficiency
Contrary to fears of job loss, Riza believes that AI can enhance people’s creativity and productivity, leading to better work outcomes. By automating repetitive and mundane tasks, AI technology can free up time for individuals to focus on more valuable and complex activities.
Riza also stated that AI has the potential to encourage people to work more effectively, efficiently, and intelligently, thus positively impacting productivity in Indonesia.
“(AI) I think will have a big role for us since Indonesia is currently experiencing a demographic bonus so we must continue to leverage the capacity of Indonesian talents through AI,” he added.
