PT Astra Graphia Tbk (ASGR) posted a IDR31 billion net profit in the first half of 2022 and plans to expand data centers to support its total solution business towards the company subsidiaries.

Astra Graphia, a subsidiary of diversified conglomeration PT Astra International Tbk, is a company founded in 1975 that focuses on printing and digital services business. The company has an exclusive document solution partnership with Fujifilm, providing printing needs for personal, offices, Graphic Art to managed print services. Astra Graphia also has two subsidiaries, namely PT Astra Graphia Information Technology (AGIT) that provides information technology solutions and PT Astragraphia Xprins Indonesia (AXI) that provides office solutions.

Astra Graphia President Director Hendrix Pramana said the company was currently focusing on pursuing revenue from the printing and digital services segment that was in line with the expansion of the data center or data center business. He did not go into details of the data center expansion as the expansion depends on the company’s analysis to the current technology trend.

“Actually Astra Graphia already has its own data center to support existing customers. We position this data center as a total part of solutions provided by the subsidiaries of Astra Graphia to its customers to provide solutions in the cloud area,” Pramana explained during the Capital Market Journalists Workshop on August 5, 2022.

On the first half of 2022, Astra Graphia recorded a net profit of IDR31 billion, a 74% increase compared to the same period in 2021 which was only IDR18 billion. The total assets of the company increased 7% from IDR2.24 trillion to IDR2.4 trillion. Astra Graphia’s revenue and profit are based on the increase in demand for rental services and machine purchases in the office and graphic art segments.

The company’s expansion on data center means that it also follows the current trend of cloud computing. Research company Gartner Inc. predicted that globally, companies will deploy 95% of new digital workload on cloud – native platforms by 2025. However locally, this trend might only happen in big cities and urban areas in Indonesia due to low penetration of the internet.

A new policy from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology towards Private Electronic System (PSE) operators might hinder toward cloud computing development in Indonesia.
