PT Link Net Tbk is cooperating with telecommunication company ZTE Corporation of China to boost its Jayabaya Project, a submarine cable development connecting Jakarta and Surabaya.
The new universal switching equipment oriented 100G, or the ZXONE 9700 DWDM series, is to build an information superhighway from Indonesia’s capital of Jakarta to the country’s second largest city of Surabaya.
“The ZXONE 9700 DWDM series provides advanced technology for infrastructure transportation to help Link in the construction of a packet-oriented network to support 100G flexibly,” PT ZTE Indonesia Sales Director Steven Lee said recently.
This technology is a submarine network innovation that complements the network to minimize the potential disturbances. The technology will have an impact on the enterprise and residential segments.
According to Marlo Budiman, Link President Director and CEO, this partnership can help Link in providing high-reliability services and stability for customers in Java. It can also help provide cable TV and fixed broadband internet service solutions to support the digitalization of Indonesia.
In 2022, Link has allocated IDR3.07 trillion for capital expenditure (Capex).
Link’s Deputy Chief Marketing Officer Santiwati Basuki said the Capex would be focused on three purposes. First, by adding a home pass and footprint in cities in Java Island. Currently, the company has 2.93 million home passes. It is also expanding into cities such as West Java’s Sukabumi, Subang and Sumedang and Central Java’s Purwokerto, with a total of 27 cities in Indonesia.
Second, by using it for regular network maintenance to maintain customer convenience. Third, for migrating cables or poles belonging to State Electricity Company (PLN) for infrastructure independence.
In between two and five year time, Link hopes that its network can encircle Java Island, as well as expand it to Sumatra and Kalimantan, which will host Indonesia’s new capital of Nusantara.
In the midst of acquisition of shares by XL Axiata, Link obtained a loan facility of IDR2.6 trillion for 12 months from Japan’s MUFG Bank Ltd. The loan is used to finance the company’s general needs.
In the first quarter of 2022, Link earned IDR1.05 trillion in revenue. However, the broadband internet segment decreased by 0.92% or IDR496.56 billion, and the television segment also decreased by 1.84% or IDR504.10 billion.
